“Can a man hide himself in hiding places So I do not see him?” declares the LORD “Do I not fill the heavens and the earth?” declares the LORD. Jeremiah 23:24
When I’m tired, I hide
When I’m scared, I hide
When I don’t know the answers, I hide
When I am lonely, I hide
When I’m sick, I hide
When I’m angry, I hide
When I sin, I hide
I hide in myself, in pride, in my justification, in depression, in anxiety, in blame, in numbness, in perfectionism, in entertainment, in my idols, in my thoughts. Are you hiding from God?
The thing with hiding is, the longer we hide away from Him the harder it is to stand and step into His goodness. The heavier the shame the more entangled we become in our independence from Him. We sit and we think, if I stood and stepped out of hiding He has already gone, He will punish me, He was never waiting in the first place or He will take away the comfort of my hiding places.
God says – Saying to those who are bound, ‘Go forth,’ To those who are in darkness, ‘Show yourselves ‘ Along the roads they will feed, and their pastures shall be in all high places. Isaiah 49:9
