The Awkward Pause

Thank you to everyone who read my blog post yesterday and helped hold my hand as I stepped deep into the vulnerability waters.

“Owning our story can be hard but not nearly as difficult as spending our lives running from it. Embracing our vulnerabilities is risky but not nearly as dangerous as giving up on love and belonging and joy—the experiences that make us the most vulnerable. Only when we are brave enough to explore the darkness will we discover the infinite power of our light.”
― Brené Brown

To be honest, I have been pacing, insecure about my stories, and feeling like I was the downer at the party. I keep telling myself to “Quick! Blog something funny, so they’ll all forget.” And then my sassy, rebellious self says back… “It’s MY party and I can cry if I want too!”

mmmmm S’mores!

We are heading out soon for a family camping weekend, and I am so looking forward to it, but I didn’t want to have this awkward pause between blogging about my past hurts and then pictures of S’mores.
I thought I would transition with these quotes as a big thank-you to all my faithful readers and friends. There will be more:> and an encouragement for you to step out in whatever area you are in and be YOU! xox

“When we were children, we used to think that when we were grown-up we would no longer be vulnerable. But to grow up is to accept vulnerability… To be alive is to be vulnerable.”
― Madeleine L’Engle

“What happens when people open their hearts?”…
“They get better.”
― Haruki MurakamiNorwegian Wood

“To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything, and your heart will certainly be wrung and possibly be broken. If you want to make sure of keeping it intact, you must give your heart to no one, not even to an animal. Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements; lock it up safe in the casket or coffin of your selfishness. But in that casket – safe, dark, motionless, airless – it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable.”

The heart and soul of great art is the ability for the artist to be vulnerable. – Mitch Joel
